Area 45 Mini-Conference Saturday April 21, 2008 "JAILBOX" sign for Group contributions to Prison Meetings Printable materials for Hospitals & Institutions Commitments Central Jersey Intergroup (CJI) is an Alcoholics Anonymous service entity. It is made up of the A.A. groups in the Trenton, NJ and surrounding areas. CJI provides local services to alcoholics in the area that individual groups are not able to provide, such as meeting lists and maintaining a 24 hour emergency hotline. Your Intergroup is often where the sick alcoholic first calls or shows up for A.A. help. "Although Intergroups operate independently of A.A.’s worldwide service structure, they are a vital part of the Fellowship. In most areas, any group that so wishes can belong to the local Intergroup, which is supported by contributions from its member groups. These contributions are purely voluntary." (From the A.A. pamphlet "The A.A. Group… where it all begins" Alcoholics Anonymous World Services, Inc. 475 Riverside Drive, New York, NY 10115, pages 44 – 45. Used with permission. ) Each group elects a representative to attend a monthly Intergroup Representative meeting and to bring the informed group conscience of their group to the CJI body. This includes voting on just how you want your donations used, what services CJI should provide and, even, how those services should be provided. All groups are encouraged to elect representatives and have their voice heard in the decision making process. All the CJI committees need more volunteers to help carry the A.A. message.
